I’ve always needed to know a lot of information to feel comfortable, especially if it’s something I’ve never experienced before (like getting braces!). One night, I had a huge epiphany! I feel like God is helping me use my worries and fears to help other kids who worry. I want to help kids deal with their fears so nothing can stand in the way of going for their dreams! I love dance and when I started feeling nervous about going to new classes with new teachers, I knew I had to do something to conquer those fears to continue to do what I love...and I am SO glad I worked hard to overcome those fears! My friends were there for me in class when I was feeling worried, they would do silly things to make me laugh, and we came up with a silent secret language to say things like “I got your back”. My parents always encouraged me to be brave, and we talked a lot about the things that worried me and they helped me figure out how to work through worries. I thought it would be a great idea to show kids specific ways to help them deal with worrying and to encourage them to be brave! And if you have a friend who is worried about something, how you can help your friend. I tried a lot of different things, and we’ve included the ones that have helped on this website.
